Submitting your Artwork
Submitting your Artwork |
Insuring the best quality print begins with making sure your artwork follows the artwork criteria below. |
|
Artwork Criteria List |
| 1. High Resolution Image |
Atleast 300 dpi, CMYK Format, and sized to print, meaning if your image on your shirt is 12"x15" make image 12"x15". Do not send Low resolution Web graphics. |
| 2.Excepted Artwork Files: |
| PDF |
Portable Document Format: Most Common and Usable File Type. Usually Read by Adobe Acrobat |
| EPS |
Encapsulated PostScript: Usually created by other software program. Commonly used for its flexibility to be opened by most graphic programs. |
| CDR |
Corel Draw File: Created by the Corel Draw Software, a vector program. Even though this is the file we prefer overall it can only be opened by Corel Draw Owners. Read below regarding Vector and Raster. |
| PSD |
Adobe Photoshop File: Created by Photoshop, a raster base program. Most commonly used by most designers. Files tend to be extremely larger and hard to send via email. Recommended 300 dpi, CMYK. Must make sure File has transparent background for dark garment printing or white for white garment printing. |
| TIFF |
Usually a Raster File: Created by other design programs. Must make sure it is highe resolution on a clear or white background. |
| AI |
Adobe Illustrator file: Like Corel draw, a vector base program. AI file must but created in CS3 format or less. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO UNCHECK USE COMPRESSION PRIOR TO SAVING FILE. |
| SVG |
Scalable Vector Graphics. Used for its versatility to be an all purpose vector file. Since this file does not have compression scheme it can be opened by most vector programs. Opening the file in a raster may decrease the quality of the image. Tip: When saving a SVG file online do not use save image as but left click on SVG LINK and use save target as. |
| JPG |
Most common Raster file type such as BMP. This file must be High Resolution. Pixelation Issue may occur. Make sure files are atleast 1000 x 1000 resolution or more. Must be on white background. |
|
3. Not Recommended Artwork Files: |
Gif, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, or most word document files. Some PNG Files. Please email us if you have another file type. |
| 4. Fonts |
When sending fonts or if your artwork contains fonts, please either send the font file with the artwork file or convert all fonts, to either curves (Corel) or paths (Illustrator). |
| 5. Background Color |
Remember we print whatever is sent to us. If your image is on a black background it will print the black background, so when printing black on black it will leave a black box. This is important especially when sending a raster file such as JPG, PSD, or TIFF. On other vector file types the background can typically be removed MOST of the time. A artwork fees may apply and start at $25 and can go up to $125 or more depending on the amount of work to be done. |
| 6. Proof |
Typically we recommend you send a proof, which is what your final product will look like. You can download templates that are also scaled to ideal size. Sending a proof will extremely expedite the artwork process. |
| 7. Artwork Instructions |
If you cannot provide a proof please provide as must information as possible regarding what your final product will look like such as:
| 1. Location: Front, Back, Left or Right chest, Top of neck, Left or Right Sleeve, bottom of shirt, etc. Can also specify if image is a certain amount of inches from color or if its center chest or middle of back or Shoulder. Be discriptive as possible. |
| 2. Image size: Used width rather than both unless image is not intended to be proportional. |
3. Image color: If specific color is needed please provide Pantone Uncoated color code. Mostly used for Screen printing since specific color is used.
Note: For Digital printing light colored shirts black should be FULL BLACK CMYK, (100,100,100,100) For Dark Garments Keep black regular (0,0,0,100). For greys use CMYK black percents (0,0,0,50) |
| 4. Font: Type and pt or size used. If artwork is only a font and not providing artwork please specify font type or provide font being used and also provide the size WIDTH AND HEIGHT since changing font proportions does not necessarily skew the image. |

VECTOR AND RASTER
Vector: Graphics that use mathematical equations rather than pixels. Vector graphics use shapes, lines and points to plot out the image. Unlike raster/bitmap images this lets you size your image as large as you want without drastically increasing your file size. When zoomed in enough on a raster/bitmap you are able to see pixels, on a vector the image remains clear or smooth. Vector images are created on vector base programs such as Corel Draw and Adobe Illustrator. Vector graphics can be also saved as PDF, EPS, and SVG files for exporting to other vector and non-vector graphic programs. |
|
| |
|
Raster: Also Called bitmap (bmp) are graphics that are represented by pixels. Pixels are represented as dots or squares that represent a specific information such as color or space. Jpegs and Tiff are common raster images. Your camera pictures are also raster. Raster images are based on pixels, scaling the image will affects it by replacing the added pixels with other colors, condensing them may result in pixelation, (blurrying the image). This is why it is extremely important that you design in no less than 300 dpi for printing, 72 dpi for web. Raster images also tend to be significantly larger file sizes. Adobe Photoshop, Paint, and Fireworks are the more common raster based graphic programs. |
